What is SEO

What is SEO?

Simply put, SEO or website promotion in search engines can be defined as a tool to influence search robots to drive traffic (flow of visitors) to a website.

More formally, SEO (SEO optimization) is the optimization of a website for search engines, the comprehensive development of a website and its promotion in order to occupy leading positions in search engine results.

Why is it important to be in the top search results?

Search engine statistics provide the answer. 95% of all traffic comes from the first page of search results, with 60% to 80% coming from lines 1-3. Any businessman would be happy to attract such attention to his company (brand, product), so it is important to make efforts to reach the top of the search results.

Promotion in social media or SEO?

There are various ways to attract new customers through the Internet: social networks, contextual advertising, cooperation with bloggers. All of these methods work well if you need to attract the first customers as quickly as possible. But we have to face a serious drawback. The desired effect lasts as long as you pay.

With SEO, your results are permanent. Modern SEO optimization is no longer limited to inserting keywords into texts and acquiring links, as it was ten years ago. Now this work has become much more intricate and delicate. Today, SEO promotion includes such basic elements as:
constant monitoring of algorithm changes and adjustments;
monitoring search queries and adjusting keywords used on your site as they lose or gain their relevance to users, changing the direction of optimization efforts;
creation of a semantic core based on current keywords and regular expansion;
internal technical optimization that improves website code, navigation and speeds up loading;
external optimization or increasing links to the site. For this purpose, links to the resource are bought on various popular sites in order to increase interest in it from search engines;
monitoring the comments of website visitors and timely response to all negative manifestations;
website analytics review and strategy adjustment.

SEO Evolution

   If you follow the evolution of SEO, you can notice how it gradually transforms from a crude tool to a high-tech tool with a precise target impact. During its development, SEO optimization has gone through the following main stages:
until 1998 or initial phase. During this period, the site was advertised using spam keywords. Today's SEO would describe this method as "black" SEO. Such half-baked phrases like "buy flowers Yerevan" were common back then for search results. There are no such examples today, thankfully.
1998–2009 – the days of the PageRank algorithm. Google introduces a new algorithm to evaluate a site's position in search results. The algorithm had its flaw and was based on the number of links given to a site. The sites that spent more money on buying links become the leaders, but were not necessarily useful to to their visitors
starting 2009 – the improvement of algorithms. Search engines declare war on links and introduce the site ranking factors. After the algorithm update, buying links was no longer enough to get top positions. There was a need to create high-quality content and a well-thought-out site structure that would be user-friendly.
from 2016 – the launch ranking algorithm packages. SEO specialists must constantly determine which keywords are the most relevant, continuously replenish the site with quality content, work on code optimization and design improvement. In SEO, it is important to monitor the current news and updates of search engine algorithms to stay on top.
